As I grow older, I become tired.
I become tired of trying to make small talk with people, trying to make friends with them, and eventually having that friendship reduced to awkward greetings whenever you chance upon them occasionally.
I do not know what makes me feel this way.
But I honestly do not see the point of making such transient "friendships".
Maybe it's the memories that you've had with them that matters.
But what are memories when they only form memories?

I have no idea since when I started disliking birthdays.

Maybe it's since the day I cried myself to sleep on my birthday.

But the thing with birthdays, is that you expect a certain something from it.

You expect your friends to come knocking at your door at 12am, you expect it to be the best day of the year.

And expectations lead to disappointment.

Despite how many times you tell yourself not to expect anything, your mind will still somehow make up scenarios of having the best birthday ever.

Somehow life always disappoints.

FREE CONE DAY!!!

The day began at 9.30am. Met up with Cherlyn and Adeline @ AMK Hub to purchase the ingredients to bake a Lemon Drizzle Cake as well as grab some sushi for lunch. The cake turned out to be surprisingly good considering how little ingredients/how little time it needed. The only letdown was the drizzle part, we kinda poured too much lemon juice into the cake. But I'm still gonna bake this cake for class gathering next time though! They're gonna be so impressed!

Went to Vivo after that since it was Free Cone Day!!!

Went shopping after that and got two dresses! (I need to stop buying dresses.) Planning to wear one of them to Chng's POP this Sat. But don't know if I'll have the guts to do so eventually. Had Charlie & Co. for dinner which serves awesome burgers!!!

9th April

Decided to squeeze the today's events into this post as well. Woke up at 12pm and decided to go swimming @ Tee's. Only arrived there at 3pm due to my usual dillydallying. Went for a run on the treadmill and swam after that, loved the water as usual. Went up and ordered pizza because we were too lazy to leave the house. Watched some tacky Channel 8 show whilst she worked on her SMU interview preparation. Went swimming again after that because I felt fat after the very sinful dinner. Had a chill chit chat session by the pool with Khng and Tee, had fun as usual.

Alright, enough with the recount. Shall go read up on the Pope now. Bye!

2HR FLYER DISTRIBUTION

Woke up at 5.30am today to work for 2 hours as a flyer distributor. It has been years since I was last a flyer distributor. To be honest, I rather enjoyed the job. I guess the highlight of the job was to smile at all the sour-faced working adults and having them smile back. But as much as I enjoyed it, I was glad it was only 2 hours. If you were to ask me to stand there for more than 2 hours, I'd probably detest the job. Met Mr Yong and Mr Ng while working today, had a brief but good catch up session. Damn, I miss the good old times in Anderson.

VERY EXTREMELY EXCITED TO GO ON A SHOPPING SPREE WITH ADDY TOMORROW & grab some free ice-cream from Ben and Jerry's. IT'S FREE CONE DAY!!! I'm planning to get a new outfit to wear the chng's POP, something mesmerizing maybe? ;)

So today concludes my last day of working at Recruit Express. It has been a roller coaster journey, full of ups and down. Despite Joseph's repeated attempts to get me to stay, I've decided to not extend my services, probably because I feel like I need more time to settle my school stuff and to take a break. Working at RE is really exhausting sometimes, even though I do enjoy the sense of satisfaction that it brings me. Haha especially when I manage to maintain 10.0 temps filled for several weeks. I don't know what's my next course of action, I'm probably gonna rest at home for about a month, watching drama serials, getting fit, revamping my room etc, then find a job at some ice-cream palor that offers flexi hours. I do feel like trying out for Udders, but their $5.50/hour pay is putting me off. Maybe Ben and Jerry's? We shall see about that.

I feel like writing about my co-workers lest I forget them in future.

Joyce!
I put an exclamation mark after Joyce's name because that's just who she is! Hilarious and fun-loving person, always greeting me in the morning and putting a smile on my face with her random and self-invented phrases like "SOT-BLOOD". Hahaha I think the some of the perm staff are beginning to adopt some of her weird phrases as well.

THICK BUSHY EYEBROWS AND PORCUPINE HAIR. That's what I think of when I see Jeremy. Haha, he looks exactly like how I describe him to be. Over the course of these 10 weeks, I've learnt that Jeremy is actually a super nice guy inside... but he should really make it a point to come to work on time... haha

Okay, I'm kinda exhausted right now as the clock is stricking 3am and I have to wake up early tomorrow. Shall continue this some other time then. Toodles (:

I should blog about last weekend. But I'm too lazy. So I shall just sum it up to: SMU open house + 7km hike with the boy. Incredibly tiring, but extremely fun.

Short summary

It has been a good week.

Let me just start off this post with the fact that I, Hoo Xin Yi, have successfully aced her BTT, and is one step closer to being able to drive. I was honestly afraid of failing the test though all my predecessors had assured me that the percentage of that happening was almost close to nil. I'm probably gonna begin learning the practical one; gonna call up the instructor tomorrow. 

Anyway, this weekend has been awesome. It started off from Friday since I took a day off (my first one, after almost 2 months of work) for BTT. Went out with the boy to Stadium of all places, but surprisingly they actually had New York New York there and I indulged in a plate of pasta (forgot the exact name, but it was awesome!!!). Later we went to chill out by some random river and caught a movie and I snuck him home.

Saturday slept till 4pm considering that I slept at 4am the night before. Went to cousin's wedding dinner, got further affirmation that I'm never gonna throw a wedding banquet. All the fuss and buzz and you don't know half the people you've invited (at least for me, I'm not close to my relatives I guess). I think I'm just gonna get married in some unknown island or resort. The wedding ceremony featured in twilight is something I would want in future I guess. In a foresty/beachy environment, with close friends and family who genuinely care about you. Went out for a midnight run with the boy till 2am after the wedding dinner. Ended up at serangoon eating ice cream at 1am. Udders was closed, so we had to settle for ooblong, which was, sad to say, below average.

Sunday. Went out in the morning to sail with Lingying, Wanqi and Shah (I hope that's how you spell it), had fun! Then snuck the boy into the house again because no one was at home, then went out TEMPS GATHERING @ Steve's house! Had so much fun there haha, felt like I was being myself finally, even though I could still feel judgments being made about me.

Yup, pretty much sums up my hectic weekend. Hope I have candidates tomorrow, haven't been posting ads as often as I should. Hmm, nights everyone! (:

Life has been incredibly hectic these past few months. Can't believe it has only been 92 days since my first A level paper (according to my countdown to A Levels app which I was too lazy to delete). Honestly I don't know what the future holds, but it's definitely not gonna be good. This is too depressing, let's move on.

So, life has been great for the past month I guess, apart from the fact that work has been a pain in the ass. I honestly feel like I'm paid too little for the shit and the number of hours I put in. Dad has been asking me to slack off at work, but it's literally impossible to slack off without being noticed when your boss is sitting behind you literally breathing down your neck. Well at least it keeps me occupied.

As for my love life, it has also been an incredibly messy affair at least up to now. Chng just booked in yesterday, haha I didn't cry like how Khng cried when Qi Hua went in. I guess I'm too strong for that (who am I kidding)... Anyway, I'm kinda missing the boy now though I do enjoy having time to myself. But I'll never find the time to blog if he didn't book in haha! 

Khng came for a sleepover last night! & only went home at 6pm today. The day consisted of waking up at 12pm and drifiting in and out of sleep after lunch and a 3 hr criminal minds marathon! Tee's in Europe now!!! She's been sending us photos!!! SO PRETTYYYY! Really wish I could be there! 

Okay enough blogging for today! Have to go online shopping for the boy's valentine's day gift. I do not buy valentine's day gifts for anyone, but Khng mentioned how awkward it would be if the boy actually got me one and so I relented.

Work was exhausting today.

Physically and mentally draining.

But I guess there are many lessons to be learnt each day, how to deal with different kinds of people mainly and the many excuses they come up with to justify why they were absent at work. 

Went to meet Jynn & Ahddy after work for dinner! Had a rather brief but still extremely fun meet up with them! Jynn had brought some fortune cookies over and mine said:

Went with Glen for a basketball game after that! Had a good time really sweating it out even though I think his friends weren't that excited about having me in their team. But had a good time overall, grateful to Glen for introducing me all his basketball khakis!
